Non antiperspirant deodorant

Despite the fact that they perform two entirely different functions, people are often confused by the difference between antiperspirants and deodorants and don’t understand what a non antiperspirant deodorant is.

Let’s take a quick look at the difference and try and clear up any confusion.

The difference between antiperspirant and deodorant

As its name suggests, an antiperspirant stops you from perspiring or sweating.

Deodorant on the other hand stops you from smelling. You may not realize it, but it’s not your sweat that smells. But your sweat mixing with the bacteria that are present on your skin causes an odor.

The line is often blurred between the two products because many deodorants contain ingredients that mean they also act as antiperspirants too. That said, a pure non antiperspirant deodorant doesn’t have any properties or components to stop you from sweating.

An explanation of what a non antiperspirant deodorant is

Why use a non antiperspirant deodorant?

Non antiperspirant deodorants are essential for some people because those people have allergies to ingredients that block the skin’s pores from sweating. They may suffer from skin irritation or rashes if they use antiperspirants.

And some people suffer from swelling of the lymph nodes if they use them, which can be very painful.

So as people with these allergies can’t use antiperspirants without suffering discomfort and even pain, they choose not to use them. And this means they will sweat.

Sweating is quite normal of course. After all, we all sweat naturally. But it does mean these people need to use a nonantiperspirant deodorant if they don’t want to generate any nasty odors when they do sweat.

And many people without such allergies also prefer to use a non antiperspirant deodorant anyway. After all, sweating is a healthy activity for your body and fulfills an important function – that of cooling your body.

So, many people choose not to mess around with the way their body is meant to work, which makes sense. Any time you mess with the natural working of your body you risk doing it harm. So if you can avoid it, why wouldn’t you?

And as you may be aware, antiperspirants use aluminum salts to stop you from sweating. These aluminum salts work by blocking your skin’s pores. But there are concerns about the effect the aluminum can have on your health. Although there’s no definitive scientific proof, there are concerns the salts could be a cause of various health issues. And so that’s another good reason to consider using a non antiperspirant deodorant too.
